Catalina 250
The roomy cockpit and other "big boat" features of this pocket cruiser makes the Catalina 250 a great sailboat for weekenders and short cruises.
The interior cabin and galley in the Catalina 250 are surprisingly spacious for a trailerable sailbaot.
The Catalina 250 includes a mounting bracket for an outboard engine, but a Yanmar inboard is an available option.
The Catalina 250 is a trailerable sailboat that is still large enough to be used for coastal cruising. The 250 is available in both a wing keel model and a water ballast centerboard model. Both are trailerable and include an outboard mounting bracket for an outboard engine. Catalina now offers a Yanmar inboard engine as an option for the Catalina 250. Both 250 have a surprisingly roomy cabin for a 25-foot sailboat, but the wing keel 250 provides an extra 5 inches of headroom in the cabin, because it has no centerboard trunk.
First introduced by Catalina Yachts in 1994, the Catalina 250 is considered by many to be a modern classic. The comfortable seating in the cockpit make cruising comfortable, and the high coamings make it safer. The rear of the cockpit includes 2 observation seats, and the cockpit includes two lazarettes, an open transom, and a stainless steel swim ladder. Molded non-skid surfaces add more safety when moving about on deck.
Sails and Rigging
A roller furling headsail and a fully battened mainsail with Jiffy reefing make sail handling easier. With internal halyards led aft to the cockpit, almost all sail handling can be handled without leaving the safety of the cockpit. The stainless steel standing rigging and anodized aluminum mast and booom are made for sturdiness and durability.
Both Catalina 250 models include a standard 12-volt electrical system with a control panel, a feature that is usually found only on larger sailboats. The electrical system includes cabin lights, an anchor light, steaming lights, and navigation lights, as well.
Cabin, Berths and Galley
Belowdecks, the Catalina 250 includes double berths both fore and aft and a pop-top to increase cabin headroom.
The galley is equipped with a galley sink, a 2-burner stove, a large removable ice chest, and fresh water pump that draws from the fresh water storage tank. The enclosed head compartment can accept either a Porta Potti or a marine head, and a holding tank is available as an option.
The Catalina 250 can be purchased from your nearest Catalina sailboat dealership.
